Shobna celebrates with her mum

Degree ‘chufs’ Shobna

ONE of the first degrees awarded by a new educational institution in Oldham has gone to the town's most celebrated actress - Shobna Gulati.
The former Coronation Street star donned her colourful hat and gown
when she received an honourary doctorate.
Shobna, who played Sunita in the soap, joined 150 students
accepting awards from the Oldham campus of the University of
Huddersfield, which opened last year. She was joined by her mum
(pictured) and friends for the event at the Queen Elizabeth
Hall.
Shobna said: "This is an honour and a pleasure, I am dead chuffed.
The fact students can go to a place of higher education at a local
level is great."
