Sayeeda’s amazing journey

26/ 2/2007

YOUNG writer Sayeeda Rahman has been celebrating after receiving a special award.

The 11-year-old from Ashton-under-Lyne was given the award by British Bengali television, Channel S, for her contributions as a member of the British Bangladeshi community.

Sayeeda, who has already published her first book, entitled My Journey, was presented the award by the chairman of Channel S, Mahee Ferdus in a live television broadcast.

Said Sayeeda: "When I found out about the award I was over the moon. The best thing about it was the it was live and I got to go on TV. It was amazing."

Her father Sajjadur was equally pleased: "It's the second award she has won this year. We are son proud of her success."

Sayeeda is a member of numerous organisations including Ashton Regeneration and MADCAT.

She was recently awarded a young person trophy by the Regenda group.
