The Community Action (C A) Team is Manchester’s answer to the “A Team” .
Gone are the days of overthrowing ruthless South American regimes and rogue traders, the C A Team found something more worthwhile to do.
The motley crew of volunteers took on as many community projects in a day as possible, all in the aim of helping others as part of Islam Awareness Week. The team travelled across Stockport and Manchester in their “A Team van” picking up tasks on the way. The event was part of the Community Action (CA) project of the Islamic Society of Britain. The team have been working on community projects for the past year, aiming to bring communities together, develop cohesion and encourage youngsters to volunteer.
Said one of the team members, Enam ul Haque aka Hannibal Smith: "The week was about building bridges and getting to know your neighbours and what better way of doing that, than being a good neighbour. "Armed with hedge trimmers, spades and paint-brushes rather than the original A Team’s guns and grenades, our main aim was to help out with those troublesome tasks."
