Show goes on for talented teen

RISING Wilmslow star Priyanka Joshi, 14, of Windermere Road, Handforth, has beaten off stiff competition from fellow young singers to appear in a national touring concert The Show Must Go On, Musicals and More.

The Wilmslow High School student will tour the country with the production from April, appearing in theatres across the UK including the Liverpool Empire on Sunday, August 3.

She said: "I am really looking forward to it. I won’t have to miss out on school because all the shows are at the weekend, but I’ve had to practice a lot."

The young singer auditioned for the show in the summer of 2007 and has been busily juggling her school work and rehearsals in preparation for the show.

The show involves a number of performances of favourite show tunes from the West End and Broadway.

And Priyanka will be performing the lead for Castle on a Cloud, Les Miserables, and Memories from Cats.

Mum, Manali said: "This is a dream come true for Priyanka. Ever since she was a little girl going to her drama class, she has wished for this chance. We are so proud of her."

Priyanka said: "I have always loved singing and dancing.

"I really want to make the school, my friends and especially my mum and dad proud."

Priyanka will be appearing in The Show Must Go On, Musicals and More, at The Empire in Liverpool on Sunday, August 3.
