Jewish museum’s multi-faith project

28/ 2/2008

MANCHESTER Jewish Museum is due to open a new exhibition promoting co-operation between different ethnic and religious groups called Faith in the Community.

A grant from the Community Development Foundation has enabled the Cheetham Hill museum to welcome visitors from NEESA, the Asian women’s support group, and a Muslim girls’ group based at Al Khizra Mosque on Cheetham Hill Road.

Education officer Jeremy Michelson gave them a short talk on the history, and community artist Brian Raymond of Leaf Arts helped the groups to produce some beautiful art work on the theme of journeys.

This work is being displayed at the museum from Sunday, March 2 until Tuesday, March 18.

The museum also plans to build a National Centre for Tolerance within its grounds.
