Different faiths look at birth, marriages and deaths
18/ 3/2008
HYNDBURN Community Network is offering a look at births, marriages and deaths from different cultural perspectives.
In conjunction with the Inter-Faith Forum, it will be holding three sessions, each covering a different topic and allowing people to find out more about different customs and religious rituals relating to the subject.
A spokesman said: "It is natural to want to celebrate the most important events in life with a special ceremony, usually including speech, poetry, music, song, feasting and dancing.
"People have always needed to mark the important times in their lives and to commemorate the lives of people when they are born, when they marry and when they die."
The first topic to be covered will be births next Wednesday.
Representatives of different faiths will be present and the subject will also be covered from a legal perspective.
Marriages will follow on 1 April and deaths on 23 April.
All the sessions will be held at the old St James School in Cannon Street, Accrington, from 3pm.
They are for women only and to book a place ring the community network on 232426.
