A PROFESSIONAL gambler who threw his ex-wife onto a busy road was branded an ‘absolute disgrace’ by magistrates in Manchester.
The court heard how Jatinder Singh’s violent behaviour was witnessed by their children outside a school last November.
Mother-of-two Bimla Singh was left shocked and nursing bruises and grazes, said prosecutor Gareth Hughes.
Singh, 32, of Netherton Road, Fallowfield, admitted charges of assault and damaging his former wife’s mobile phone. He was given a suspended six-month prison sentence and ordered to pay Mrs Singh £300 compensation.
Court chairman Steve Terry told him: "This was an appalling and disgraceful way to treat a woman."
Singh was also sentenced to 150 hours unpaid work and told to pay another £150 for the phone he wrecked.
David Abbott, defending, said the offences had arisen against a background of bitter matrimonial breakdown.
