Shamed doc fails to halt pay cut
3/ 5/2008
A shamed doctor banned from working by a medical regulator has failed in a legal bid to stop hospital bosses cutting his pay.
The General Medical Council suspended radiologist Amjan Husien, pictured, from practising medicine for a year because he failed to spot signs of breast cancer in 17 women when he worked at Trafford General Hospital.
Husien, from Didsbury, has been suspended from his job on full pay of £75,000 a year for the last three years. He went to the High Court in London to try to block a disciplinary meeting due to take place today, when hospital managers are expected to stop his pay. The doctor's lawyers argued the meeting should not take place until his appeal against the GMC decision is heard.
