A CURRY house has been fined £4,500 after inspectors discovered filthy conditions.

Hollyvern Ltd - trading as the Cottage Tandoori restaurant, in Walkden, Salford - was found guilty of five food hygiene offences.

The restaurant, which denied each charge, was ordered to pay costs of £2,766 at Salford magistrates' court.

Inspectors arrived to find:

- The kitchen was infested with flies

- A man on a step ladder decorating the kitchen while food was being prepared

- A sink used to prepare food was being used to clean paint brushes

- Food had been moved into an outside yard for storage and was at risk of contamination

- Raw and cooked meat was being stored next to each other in a fridge

- Shelving was dirty

- The walls and floors were covered in grease.

- Dirty floors covered with ingrained food and a filthy cloth used to clean a sink were photographed as evidence at the premises on Manchester Road.

The Cottage Tandoori is now trading under a new operator.
