Released without charge: Hassan Butt
Ex-extremist released without charge

A ONE-TIME supporter of Islamic extremism, arrested at Manchester Airport on suspicion of terrorism, has been released without charge.
Hassan Butt, 28, from Prestwich, was taken into custody 12 days ago by the Counter Terrorism Unit of Greater Manchester Police.
A police spokesman said: "The 28-year-old man who was arrested by GMP officers under the Terrorism Act has been released without charge. The police investigation is ongoing."
It came as writer Shiv Malik began a High Court fight against an attempt by GMP to force him to reveal source material for an unpublished book on terrorism in collaboration with Mr Butt.
Mr Malik's book is called Leaving al-Qaeda: Inside The Mind Of A British Jihadist and has been dubbed Mr Butt's biography.
Three judges are hearing a challenge against a `production order' obtained against him by the police under anti-terror laws.
It requires Mr Malik, from London, to disclose all source material for the book and all information in Mr Malik's possession regarding the alleged terrorist activities of Mr Butt.
Refusal to comply with the order could lead to contempt of court proceedings and a possible two-year jail sentence for Mr Malik.
The hearing was due to continue today.
Mr Butt was back at his home last night but refused to comment.
