A MAN who was racially abused and threatened with a knife by youths says it is just the latest in a long line of racist incidents he has suffered.

Mithaq Murrad was threatened with the knife earlier this month but says he has been the target of yobs taunting him with racist insults for the last two years.

His girlfriend Carol Wilson, 38, has also been the target of abuse by youths who have pushed burning paper through the couple’s fence, vandalised their windows and called her a ‘P*** lover’.

Mithaq , of Dorchester Road, Swinton, was threatened with the knife by a gang of six teenagers on bikes as he sat in his car in Eccles Road, Swinton, on Wednesday, July 9.

The 28-year-old said: "It’s scary, but what can you do if a gang of teenagers come up and pull a knife in your face?

"They said: ‘You’ve got to give us £50 or we’ll smash your windows in’.

"I asked him how old he was and he said: ‘Old enough to stab you’.

"They called me some racist names, they were quite rude and verbally abusive."

Over the last two years Mithiq says he has been called ‘P*** b*****d’ and has had to shell out £300 to have his car fixed after his windows were smashed in.

He added: "It’s scary but the problem is that they are teenagers and you can’t do anything."

Carol says at first it was only her house that was targeted but youths then turned their attention to her and have racially abused her in front of her young grandson.

She added: "You can’t get hold of them to do anything because they are young kids.

"They’ve got to do some serious damage before anything happens."

Witnesses to the incident on July 9 are now being sought by police. The youth with the knife is described as white, between 15 and 16 years old, 5ft 3ins tall, slim build and has a scar or burn on one cheek.

Another youth is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall, between 16 and 17 years old and of medium build.
