THIS is what happens when van drivers try to get through a space that is too narrow for their vehicles – as one Haslingden family is finding to their cost.
The Shah family’s end-terrace home on Salisbury Street has been hit twice in a year by transit-type vans or pickups trying to get in or out of an adjacent car park, especially when it is full.
The first time it happened the damage cost £100 to put right – and the family is now waiting to find out the bill for the latest incident.
Although a neighbour saw the vehicle hit the wall, the driver made off before he could note its details.
‘It’s so annoying,’ said Jasmine Shah. ‘Someone else is doing the damage but we are the ones who have to pay for it.’
Mrs Shah shares the house with her husband Ansar, pictured by the damaged wall, and their three children.
