POLICE investigating the alleged rape of a man by a cab driver have arrested a suspect.

The 30-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, interviewed and released on bail pending further inquires.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, got into a silver VW Passat private hire taxi on Quay Street, Manchester, at 6am on June 21 after a night out.

He was driven to his flat in Salford Quays but the driver refused to accept payment for the lift. As he was waiting for a lift to his floor, the victim was grabbed and raped in the stairwell.
