CONSTRUCTION work has started again at a Rochdale mosque after delays due to a lack of funds.
Over the past two years mosque committee members have raised £100,000 to get building work going again. But £250,000 is still needed to complete the Bilal Jamia Mosque on Bulwar Street.
Said mosque secretary Ghalib Hussain: "One way people have donated money is by paying for a masallah or prayer space at the mosque for the price of £375. Currently we are using a mobile office as a mosque and we are obviously looking forward to the day when the new mosque will be completed.
"Our aim is to have it ready for Ramadan in November. People have helped us in the past and we would like to thank them for their support. With out the community's help and contributions it would be impossible to build this holy place."
