MUM'S cooking is always best and top curry chef Hamida Patel is the living proof.

Mother-of-five Hamida has been voted best Asian cook in the North West in the annual competition to find Britain's best curry. She serves her delicious meals at Lancaster's Moghuls Restaurant owned by her and her husband.

Said Hamida: "I first learned to cook from my mother in my young teenage and continued when I got married at 17. The family liked my food so much we eventually decided to go into the restaurant business."

Hamida insists in cooking in the traditional style. Her winning dish was a vegetarian dhal tikka masala with rice.
