Prison blundered over psycho racist

A RACIST psychopath from Manchester was able to batter his Asian
cellmate to death because the youth prison they were in had a
regime of unlawful racial discrimination a report has found.
A two-and-a-half year probe into the murder of 19-year-old Zahid
Mubarek by the Commission for Racial Equality, lists 20
catastrophic failures at the Feltham young offenders institute,
west London.
These included a failure to challenge racist behaviour by inmates
and staff as well as a total failure to appreciate that the
violent, racist, prisoner Robert Stewart was a "time bomb waiting
to go off".
The report concludes that if Zahid had been white he would not have
been murdered.
Stewart, from the Manchester overspill estate of Hattersley, was an
out of control criminal. He had RIP tatood on his forehead and
wrote violent racist letters.
Even hardened inmates at Feltham nicknamed him a "sicko" and "the
madman".
Just before he bludgeoned Zahid to death with a table leg he wrote
to a friend: "Cant se it stickin in ere...I'll take extreme
measures to get shipped out, kill me pad(cell)mate if I have too,
bleach me sheets and pillowcase white + make a Ku Klux Klan outfit
+ walk out of me pad wiv the flaming crucifix."
This was not the first racist letter Stewart had written and there
were references to his racism and violence on file.
The report says staff had not read any of his letters or had just
ignored them. His files warning of his violent unpredictable
behaviour had also been ignored and Stewart had not be examined by
a psychiatrist at Feltham. All these omissions were contrary to
prison regulations.
Despite his racist instability Stewart was put in a cell with Zahid
who had been jailed for theft for 90 day despite this being only
his second minor offence.
He was just hours from release when Stewart attacked him.
The CRE were told that after the murder Stewart was moved to
another cell where he scrawled a message with a swastika on the
wall boasting of the killing (see picture).
Just minutes after the murder he was found sleeping
peacefully.
Said CRE chairman Trevor Philips: "This report is a shocking
catalogue of failure. Zahid Mubarek died because of a combination
of Robert Stewart's racism and failures by the prison service to
provide him with appropriate protection. I am convinced that had
Zahid been white, he would not have died."
Stewart is now serving a life sentence for the murder.
