Oldham's taste of Scottish culture

29/ 8/2003

THE sound of the Highland pipes boomed out over Oldham as members of the town's Bangladeshi community got a dose of Scottish culture.
Curious parents and children gathered round the community's martyrs' monument as the Oldham Scottish Pipe Band treated them to an outdoor concert of reels and laments.
The audience loved it - the girls in particular thought the kilts were 'wicked'.
The event was part of the town's diversity festival which aims to bring new cultural experiences to Asians and whites.
