The word of God

26/ 1/2004

A STUDENT says he feels blessed after finding that Arabic word for God in a leek.
Thirty-four-year-old Asif Hamid was preparing his evening meal when he cut off root of the vegetable he noticed the word Allah inscribed on the cross section.
Said Asif: "It's hard to describe the feeling of finding the word Allah in a vegetable..
"But I really should not have been surprised. After all is says in the Quran that you can always find Allah in nature and this shows the Quran means what it says.
"I was really excited and I'm still amazed about my discovery."
Asif is now trying to preserve the leek and seeking information on how to stop it from decaying.
He said: "You can't just throw away something like this so I have been getting in touch with people to find out how I can keep it in its best form.
"You read about things like this all the time but you never think it will happen to you."
