MANY locals have felt compelled to make donations, but people are urged not to give money to canvassers who knock on doors and send help through mosques or other reputable organisations such as those listed below:

o Those worried about friends and family effected by the quake can call the Foreign Office on 0207 008 1500.

o For information about people in Pakistan or Azad Kashmir the Pakistan Consulate in Manchester can be contacted on 0161 225 1786.

o Those with people missing in Jammu Kashmir can contact the India High Commission on 0207 632 3064 or 0207 632 3005 or visit www.ndmindia.nic.in

o Free access to the internet and email is being offered by Voluntary Action Oldham at their town centre offices at 12 Manchester Chambers, West Street.
