Khan considers relocation
16/ 5/2008
AMIRÂ Khan has indicated his willingness to relocate to the United States if that is what it takes to link up with a world-class trainer and continue his rise towards the top of his sport.
Khan is currently considering his options after dispensing with the services of former trainer Oliver Harrison and employing Dean Powell to oversee his next fight against Michael Gomez in Birmingham next month.
Powell's appointment is likely to be temporary with numerous big-name Americans, including Buddy McGirt and Roger Mayweather, being mentioned as possible longer-term appointments.
And with Mayweather in particular unlikely to spend long on this side of the Atlantic, Khan insists the issue will not be allowed to scupper his first choice once it is made.
"At the moment I like to be train over here and in an ideal world I'd like an American coach to come over here," he said.
"But if it came down to the fact that I had to go to America, I'd do that.
"I'd like to take that chance. It would be a different atmosphere over there and a different environment to learn in.
"I think it could bring something different out in me. I would look forward to the challenge."
