OLDHAM moved into seventh spot in the Lake Garage Central Lancashire League table as they defeated Littlebor-ough in the only match to beat the showers.

Saturday’s match at the Pollards saw Littleborough bat first and reach 202-4 from their 38 overs.

Professional Kamran Hussain was their top scorer with 81, but the home side passed that target with four wickets in hand.

Oldham professional Chinthaka Jayasinghe made 67 before Nick Maree’s undefeated 57 ensured victory.

Crompton’s match against Middleton, Royton’s home game with Clifton and Werneth’s tie with Walsden were all abandoned without a ball being bowled.

That leaves Crompton top of the table with 58 points, level with Norden, with Heywood (57), Radcliffe (56) and Monton and Weaste (51) all in contention.

Crompton were unable to have any joy on Sunday when they lost their Wood Cup semi-final against Heywood by 50 runs.

Batting first, Heywood reached 187-8 from their 50 overs, skipper Bobby Cross making 46.

Crompton’s hopes of victory were hit by the loss of early wickets in reply as they slumped to 84-6.

Despite a recovery of sorts, they were finally dismissed for 137 as Heywood booked their place in the final against Monton and Weaste.
