Oldham Athletics Kickz participants had the opportunity to play in a friendly competition on Latic’s home turf Boundary Park.

Following on from the Under 14’s and 16’s successfully participating in the 'It Doesn’t Have To Happen' regional seven-a-side tournament, they got the chance to play 11 a-side matches at Boundary Park.

All players were treated like professionals at the ground and had full access to the changing rooms and the pitch. Families and friends were all welcome to attend on the day free of charge to support the players.

The Boundary Park Kickz matches featured another Kickz team from Bolton Wanderers alongside local grassroots football team Heyside Juniors FC.

The first game saw Oldham Athletics Kickz under 14’s face a strong Heyside Juniors team. A spirited performance saw the Kickz team lose 7-1 in their 1st ever 11 a-side match. Although the team lost they played some good football but and showed that with more practice and experience they could become a good 11 a-side outfit.

The second game between Oldham Athletics and Bolton Wanderers under 16’s was a lot closer contested. Bolton took the lead in the opening minutes of the first half and went in to the break with a 1 – 0 lead. Oldham came out in the second half with a point to prove and grabbed a stunning equaliser mid way through the second half. At 1 – 1 it looked as though the game was heading into penalties when Bolton scored a last minute winner.

All teams involved were rewarded with trophies and medals for their involavement.
