The future of football

1/11/2001

YOUNG children in Rochdale have been given the chance to take part in an extensive football and training course thanks to Asia FC.

Over 60 children aged between five and 16 took part in the event held at Stoneyfields in Rochdale where members of Asia FC, qualified FA coaches and ex-Huddersfield cricket player, Scott Kershaw where on hand to give the mini sportsmen professional training. The volunteers then took part in a football tournament against each other to test their skills.

Asia FC then took the younger players on a day out to Manchester United football ground at Old Trafford where they had a tour of the stadium while the older players saw Bolton Wanderers and Liverpool clash at Bolton's Reebok stadium.

Said manager of Asia FC, Aky Hussein: "We got up to 40 children coming in to the training session everyday. They showed a great interest and have even asked for more football training sessions. There were even some girls taking part as well.
"The kids are learning football skills from professionals so I think that was the main attraction. Some of the youngsters were really good and we want them to get further in the sports so we have decided to organise an under-16s team. We already have some players but are always looking out for more."

If anyone is interested in joining Asia FC they can contact Aky on 07957 695 685.
