Forum is on danger ground
1/11/2001
A YOUTH group claim lack of funding is undermining its bid to promote racial integration through sport.
The Werneth Youth Forum, launched in Oldham last year, has been struggling to get a permanent indoor sports hall. Currently they use an outdoor football pitch on Camworth Street but it is so badly maintained that it is a danger to children.
Said Amir Mohammed Khan: "We've got a small amount of funding for sports equipment but don't really have anywhere to go to it. It's a really sad situation because we're trying our best to get children into sports and off the streets."
The forum has 100 active members aged 13-30 years old. Amir can be contacted on 077190 39158.
