Three leagues to beat boredom

1/12/2001

WERNETH FC are on the ball after winning the Sunday Royton Seven Football League twice.

They say they are now so bored of winning this league they have decided to play in the Monday and the Thursday leagues as well.

Said manger Iftikar Ahmed: "The Sunday league was too easy for our boys and we needed something a bit more challenging so the team could develop their skills even further. Werneth FC have done very well over the past year. The boys are good players and have gone from strength to strength. It goes to show how far Asian footballers have come."

As well as boasting a great football team, Werneth Youth Forum also manages a cricket team, the Werneth Freehold who will be taking part in an indoor cricket tournament soon at Old Trafford.

Added Amir: "Many cricket teams come and go but Werneth Freehold have been running for six years. They're very popular and have some of the best cricketers from the area."
