Have goalposts will travel

1/ 2/2002

A MANAGER of four Asian football teams claim lack of facilities is blocking a bid to get them into a town league.

Farooq Ahmed manager of Dynamo Bengals and Krysalis FC has complained to leisure chiefs that there is not enough sporting facilities in the Wardleworth area of Rochdale for his players to develop their talents.

He said: "The Dynamo Bengals have been running for over seven years and every Sunday they have to go to fields behind a local primary school to practice. They do not even have goalposts. We have had to buy our own which we take with us.
"Ideally we would like a purpose built sports hall that can be used for football as well as other activities. Not only will it be a great place to train but it gives young people an incentive to go further."

Farooq also manages Shapla Youth and Krysalis Juniors. All his squads compete in friendlies against teams from other towns including Accrington, Oldham and Bradford but he wants more serious fixtures that could help the best players to go professional.

He added: "We have many talented players and given the chance they would go very far. All we need is more resources and support from the community and the council."
