19/12/2003

Oldham Athletic's community cohesion officer will be going out into local schools giving young people professional football coaching.
Abdul Basit has recently passed a course in coaching and hopes to use has new skills to train young people in secondary schools in Oldham.
The schools that are participating include Grange High, Hathershaw Technology College, Count Hill, Rusking Moor and Radcliffe High.
After the pupils have been trained they will take part in a football festival in the summer.
Said Abdul: "While young people are learning football skills, I will have the opportunity to introduce pupils from different backgrounds in a fun and friendly environment.
"They will then take part in a tournament next year. If it proves successful I will be extending the project to other schools."
