Reds ambition of a Stanley starter

THE end of the football season marked a double celebration for
young winger Nuruz Zaman.
Not only did the Oldham-born left footer gain a place in Accrington
Stanley's reserves but the club was promoted back into the Football
League after 44-years of non-League soccer.
Eighteen-year-old Nuruz Zaman (pictured), joined Stanley after
serving Oldham Athletics and Sheffield United's youth sides.
Said Nuruz, whose aim is to become a full time professional in the
next couple of years: "I have been with Accrington Stanley for four
months now and am learning so much. I actually get to play quite a
few games, it's a great club to be working for and I am getting
some top training."
Nuruz was first talent spotted by an Oldham Athletics scout
three-years ago and was quickly signed onto Latics under 15s team.
He soon qualified to take part in a youth training scheme with the
club, which meant spending one day a week at college studying
sports development and the rest of the week was spent practising at
Latics FC.
Whilst training with Latics, Nuruz was talent spotted again by
Sheffield United.
An opportunity not to be missed, Nuruz moved to Sheffield where he
sat on the reserve squad for the first team.
But the Manchester United fan decided he wanted to move back to
Oldham and play for a team a bit more closer to home so he
contacted Accrington Stanley, who asked him to go for some trials
and after only four matches, they snapped him up.
Said Nuruz: "Getting your first break with a club is always a
difficult step, but once you are in there, you have to keep working
hard.
"I'm lucky my family have supported me and made sure that I went to
training and never gave up on me.
"I too was determined to succeed and am learning all the
time.
"It's hard work but to make it as a professional you have to give
100 per cent.
"I'm also a left footer which is hard to find in a footballer and
appeals to a lot of clubs.
"Accrington Stanley saw this when I went for trials. I feel proud
to be playing for them and my main aim is to become a professional
in the next few years and my ultimate dream is to play for my
favourite club, Manchester United."
Nuruz, who has been playing football from an early age, says it is
also important for young players to join a local community based
football squad to get experience and training.
He said: "I joined Shajalal FC, a local team in the Westwood area
of Oldham. It was the only team giving youngsters a chance to train
every week.
"They're the ones who also pushed me hard to play
professionally.
"My advice to young hopefuls is to join your local club, train hard
and work hard because you never what opportunities are waiting for
you around the corner."
